Sophie Ecclestone, the young English bowler, is already rising in international and looks forward to be part of the IPL Women if the plan is executed next year in 2023. The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed launching the competitive T20 tournament for the ladies, the inaugural release of which is expected next year.
England's bowler, who has bagged 68 wickets in 50 T20 Internationals and 76 wickets in 47 One Day Internationals, has also played four Test matches for the nation, picking 15 wickets in the format. In her recent conversation, she has defined her goal of becoming the world's all-time great cricketer in women's cricket history.
Sophie is currently in India participating in the fourth edition of the Women's T20 challenge in Pune. She is excited to be called for the IPL Women, which she believes will be a massive success for women if happens.
“I think it would be massive to have franchise cricket for women in India. The Women’s IPL, if it starts next year, will be huge for us. The Hundred in England has been massive for women’s cricket. It has got a lot of success.”
Talking about which franchise would she love to represent, she responded by saying pink is her favourite colour so she will probably opt for Rajasthan Royals.
“Not really. My favourite colour is pink and Rajasthan Royals wear pink, so that might be an option (laughs)! Let’s see how things pan out,”
