Australia secure spot in ICC World Test Championship Final

Australia's convincing victory over India in the third Test has helped them secure a place in the ICC World Test Championship Final. The team has won 11 out of 18 Tests during the 2021-23 World Test Championship period, making them the dominant side.

Nathan Lyon's superb bowling performance and the absence of Pat Cummins due to family reasons did not stop Australia from winning. With an impressive 68.52 of their possible WTC points, they will finish the current period in first place regardless of the outcome of the final Test against India.

India in the box seat for ICC World Test Championship Final

India holds the second spot in the World Test Championship standings, with 60.29 of their possible WTC points. While they are likely to qualify for the one-off Test at The Oval in June, Sri Lanka could overtake them if results go against Rohit Sharma's side over the coming weeks.

India needs to win the fourth Test against Australia in Ahmedabad to ensure their spot in the WTC Final. However, a victory for Australia or a draw would leave the door open for Sri Lanka to snatch the last spot.

Sri Lanka's chances of making the ICC World Test Championship Final

Sri Lanka has two Tests to play away from home against New Zealand this month. The team needs to complete a 2-0 series sweep over the Kiwis to have any chance of snatching a spot in the WTC Final.
