Renowned Pakistani musician Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, more famously known as Xulfi, has been chosen to create a new remix of all the anthems for the 8th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). With the aim of adding a fresh and invigorating vibe to the event, Xulfi's mashup will be played during the matches.
In previous years, the anthems have been performed by various artists including Ali Zafar, Fawad Khan, Young Desi, Ali Azmat, Asim Azhar, Haroon, Arif Lohar, Aima Baig, and more. The first three seasons' anthems, performed by Ali Zafar, remain a fan favorite.
This year, the anthem will be performed by Asim Azhar, Shae Gill and Faris Shafi, with music composed by Abdullah Siddiqui. Ali Sethi, son of the current PCB Chairman, was initially slated to sing the PSL 8 song, but to avoid any conflict of interest, the contract was revoked by Najam Sethi.
The 8th season of the PSL will take place from February 13th to March 19th, hosted in cities of Karachi, Multan, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. The opening ceremony, as well as the first match of the tournament, will take place in Multan on February 13th with the Home team, the Multan Sultans, playing against the defending champions, Lahore Qalandars.
The first phase of the PSL, lasting till February 26th, will feature 14 matches hosted in Karachi and Multan, with Lahore hosting its first match on the same day. The league will then move to Lahore and Rawalpindi, with Rawalpindi hosting the majority of 11 matches. The grand finale of the event will be held at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium on March 19th.
