Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi endorses the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) decision to appoint Kamran Akmal as the head of the selection committee. The committee is responsible for selecting players in trials for the U13, U16, and U19 regional and district teams.
Good choice for junior selection
When speaking to a local TV channel, Afridi praised Akmal, saying he is the right person for the job. He highlighted Akmal's honesty, hard work, and bravery in making decisions as key qualities that make him suitable for the role.
Eight-member selection committee
The PCB announced the formation of an eight-member selection committee on Monday. Kamran Akmal was named as the chairman, while the other members include Sohail Tanvir, Amir Nazir, Taimoor Khan, Junaid Khan, Faisal Athar, Qaisar Abbas, and Sanaullah Baloch.
The committee, along with the head coach of each region/district, will conduct trials according to a schedule that will be released later. Each selector will play a role in the evaluation process.
Expectations from Kamran Akmal
Afridi expects Kamran Akmal to carry out his duties with integrity and without succumbing to pressure. With his appointment as the head of the selection committee, the PCB aims to bring a new level of transparency and objectivity to the selection process for junior cricket teams.
