Kamran Akmal to Join Peshawar Zalmi's Coaching Staff for PSL 8

According to pacer Wahab Riaz, wicket-keeper batter Kamran Akmal is likely to take on a coaching role for the Peshawar Zalmi team in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8. In an exclusive interview with GeoSuper.tv, Riaz stated that Kamran's absence would be felt, but that he had heard that the cricketer would be joining the Zalmi coaching setup.

Kamran, 41, played for Zalmi from 2016 to 2022 and is currently the second-highest scorer in PSL history with 1972 runs in 74 innings. He also holds the record for most centuries (3) in the league and has a batting average of 27.38. Despite his impressive record, Zalmi did not retain Kamran for the eighth edition of the PSL and he was released in the draft that took place in December 2022.

In one of the biggest trades of PSL 8, Zalmi roped in Babar Azam in the Platinum category and Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik in the supplementary round, in exchange for players that moved to Karachi Kings. The PSL 8 will kick off on February 13th, with the defending champions Lahore Qalandars taking on the 2021 champions Multan Sultans in the opening match at the Multan Cricket Stadium
