BBL 12: Perth Scorchers deal with huge blows

England's Phil Salt and Australia's Mitchell Marsh have been ruled out of Big Bash League (BBL 2022-23) following their injuries as their franchise, Perth Scorchers, took to social media to break the news on Friday.

While Marsh's ankle injury gets severe, Phil 'sustained a grade two ligament injury on his left shoulder while diving for a ball during the third Dettol One-Day International between Australia and England at the MCG on 22 November.'

Marsh, the Australian all-rounder, had to undergo a keyhole surgery in Sydney yesterday. He will be kept out of cricket action for almost three months, which means cricket fans now would have to yearn for his comeback.

Since the Scorchers now look for their replacement, they wrote on their website that,

"Perth is exploring its options to recruit replacement local and international players ahead of the Club’s season-opener against Sydney Sixers at Optus Stadium on 17 December."

Notably, the Scorchers are all set to play their inaugural match against the Sydney Sixers at Perth on December 17th. Their squad, without Marsh and Phil, now looks like as follows:

Ashton Agar, Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Cooper Connolly, Faf du Plessis (international – South Africa), Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Peter Hatzoglou, Nick Hobson, Josh Inglis, Matt Kelly, Tymal Mills (international – England), Lance Morris, Jhye Richardson, Ashton Turner (captain), Andrew Tye, Replacement international – TBC, Replacement local – TBC
