The 2023 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is just around the corner, and the preparations are going on in a full-fledged manner. As the HBL PSL 2023 draft is all set to take place in the third week of December, we have also looked out for six international cricketers registering for the player draft.
Among these players, we have England’s Dawid Malan and Jason Roy, South Africa’s David Miller, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, and Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga. Notably, the official PSL handle has confirmed Miller and Roy’s registrations. However, the official confirmation about the rest is yet to arrive.
Furthermore, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also publicised the pick order for the HBL PSL 8 draft. The current champions Lahore Qalandars have got the first pick, while the second pick will be made by Quetta Gladiators, who won the PSL 2019. The third pick belongs to Multan Sultans, who won the PSL in 2021 under Mohammad Rizwan's leadership.
Karachi Kings will have the next pick, and the most successful franchise of the PSL, Islamabad United, will have the fifth pick. Whereas Peshawar Zalmi, the winner of the maiden edition of PSL, will have the sixth pick in the pick order for PSL 8 draft.
In addition, according to the surprising stories of HBL PSL 8, Kamran Akmal, who has been linked with Peshawar Zalmi from the first season, is no longer associated with the franchise. Likewise, Lahore Qalandars have parted ways with Mohammad Hafeez after years of relation.
It must be noted that recently, the PCB has also renewed local player categories for PSL 2023. While some have been upgraded, many players have also been demoted following their recent edition’s performances. The complete list is available here.
