T20 World Cup 2022: BCCI names Jasprit Bumrah's replacement

The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Mohammad Shami as the replacement for the injured Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The toe-crusher has been meeting a series of injuries, not getting over.

The stress fracture on his lower back has been keeping him out of action for a long. He was also ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 due to the same reason. Despite his inclusion in India's World Cup squad, Bumrah was expelled later due to the severity of his injury.

In a statement released by the board, Shami has already reached Brisbane, as India anticipate kicking start their World Cup campaign against Pakistan on October 24th. The statement reads,

"The all-India senior selection committee has named Mohammed Shami as Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement in India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. Shami has reached Australia and will link up with the squad in Brisbane ahead of the warm-up matches,"
