Women's Asia Cup 2022: Pakistan Women out of tournament after closest defeat

Pakistan Women's Cricket Team is propelled out of the Women's Asia Cup 2022 after losing to Sri Lanka by a single run. Earlier in the day, Chamari Atapathtu and co won the toss and decided to bat first. They gathered 122 runs from 20 overs on the loss of six wickets as Nashra Sandhu starred with a three-wicket haul.

Sadia Iqbal, Aimen Anwar, and Nida Dar grasped one wicket a piece. After Pakistan Women stepped on the field to chase, the openers started steady with 18 from 10 and 9 from 20 balls, respectively. Captain Bismah paved the way somehow with 42 from 41 balls. Dar further extended the hopes with 26 coming from 26 balls; however, the slow approach in the final over cost them the match.

They managed seven runs from the last over, which could have been eight; the super over could have decided the fate. Credits to Achini Kulasuriya, who bowled the last over under intense pressure and saved the match by one run. Sri Lanka Women are now into the final and will see India Women tackling to lift the trophy.

Earlier, in the men's Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan Cricket Team faced a defeat in the final clash versus the same opponent. It must be said that women in green have enjoyed a splendid stint throughout, winning four out of five group-stage games.
