Will Shadab Khan's injury expel him from T20 World Cup 2022?

With the all-important event ICC T20 World Cup 2022 getting an inch closer every day, concerns for some teams rise, losing many of their players due to various reasons, injury being the major one. The alarm bell rings for one of the teams, Pakistan, as the all-rounder Shadab Khan's hamstring injury has raised questions for the board.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), during the final match of the seven-match Pak vs Eng T20I series, revealed that the useful middle-order batter would not come to bat due to an injury he suffered while fielding in the seventh T20I. The statement reads as,

"Shadab Khan will not come out to bat. He sustained a hamstring strain while fielding,"

Although there is no official revelation regarding if or not Shadab is excluded from Pakistan's World Cup squad, if he is, it will be a massive setback to the men in green. Since he has proved himself as a useful batter in the midst of the struggles in the middle-order, Shadab might be the solution quite often.

A source on Twitter revealed that his injury is not that severe as he is travelling with the squad destined for the tri-series scheduled before the World Cup. The tri-series-bound squad will later fly to Australia for the T20 World Cup 2022.

Notably, Pakistan are due to kick-start their World Cup campaign against arch-rivals India on October 24th at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.
