BCCI shares plans for IPL Women

Indian Women Cricket Team recently won an ODI series in English territory for the first time since 1999. Seeing the rise of Women's Cricket and the skill coming its way, the Board of Control of Cricket (BCCI) has planned to provide the girls with a forum to execute their talent and gain limelight under the Women's Indian Premier League (IPL Women).

The BCCI is planning to launch the maiden edition early next year, alongside introducing a tournament for U15 contest for girls this season. The motive is to create a pathway for the female to get on a higher level. 

Team India has shown significant growth in the last some years, qualifying for the finals of the 2017 World Cup, 2020 World Cup and 2022 Commonwealth Games and the 2018 T20 World Cup semifinal. Now, the Women's IPL is much anticipated by the fans and the local and foreign women players. 

Talking to the media, the President of BCCI Sourav Ganguly mentioned,

“The BCCI is currently working on the much-awaited women's IPL. We are expecting to start the first season early next year. More details will follow in due course. We are glad to introduce a girls' u-15 tournament from this season.”

“Women's cricket has seen phenomenal growth across the world, and our national team has been performing well. This new tournament will create a pathway for our girls to play at the international level,"
