Pakistan Women's Cricket Team deals with big blow ahead of Women's Asia Cup 2022

Pakistan Women's Cricket Team's potential player, Fatima Sana, has been ruled out from the Women's Asia Cup 2022 squad. The bowling all-rounder suffered an ankle twist during the maiden edition of the Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL), the severity of which has hit her wishes to represent the nation in the multinational event.

Fatima represented Barbados Royals in WCPL 1 and bagged three wickets from two games. Before the Caribbean tournament, she played the 6IXTY, in which she amassed two scalps from five matches. The bowler was initially part of the 15-player squad the PCB named on 7th September for the Women's Asia Cup but will no more be rendering her services. Notably, the PCB is yet to announce Fatima's replacement.

The Fatima-less squad is as follows:

Pakistan squad: Bismah Maroof (capt), Aiman Anwar, Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Naseem, Diana Baig, Kainat Imtiaz, Muneeba Ali (wk), Nida Dar, Omaima Sohail, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Sidra Amin, Sidra Nawaz (wk), Tuba Hasan

Reserve players: Nashra Sandhu, Natalia Pervaiz, Umme Hani, Waheeda Akhtar

It must be noted that the Women's Asia Cup 2022 is all set to be played in Bangladesh from October 1st to 16th. Including Pakistan, the rest of the teams are Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, UAE, and Malaysia.
