Shan Masood to captain Derbyshire against India

Pakistani cricketer Shan Masood is ready to captain Derbyshire in a warm-up T20 match against Rohit Sharma's India. The opener will lead the side ahead of India's series against England, starting from July 1.

Notably, the match has been scheduled for July 1 at Derby, hence, the national team's Test player will not be able to take part in the Derbyshire vs India encounter. Sharma and co will undergo a one-off Test, the residue of last year's five-match Test series, which was called off due to COVID hit in the Indian camp.

After featuring in the Test match, Ind vs Eng will witness three ODIs and as many T20Is. As far as Shan is concerned, he has been a vital cog for the club throughout the County Championship. As of now, the batter is leading his side in the T20 blast and will face team India in a warm-up match next week.

Shan has also been named in a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed an 18-player squad earlier this week.
