The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today announced the 18-player squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. The series will mark the return of leg-spinner Yasir Shah to red-ball cricket who last played a Test match versus West Indies in August 2021.
The board has also named some new faces for the series which is scheduled to be played next month. The first Test will be played at Galle International Stadium whereas, the second Test will be contested at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.
Under the captaincy of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan (vice-captain, wicketkeeper), Abdullah Shafique, Azhar Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Fawad Alam, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Nauman Ali, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wicketkeeper), Saud Shakeel, Shaheen Afridi, Shan Masood and Yasir Shah will rival the series.
Notably, the first match will be played from 16th to 20th July whereas, the concluding will take place from 24th to 28th July.
