UAE T20 League to clash with multiple major T20 leagues

The inaugural edition of the UAE T20 League is set to be played between January 6th and February 12th, but not this year as expected. As a consequence, the league previously known as International League T20 will now clash with the dates of the 2023 editions of the Big Bash League, Bangladesh Premier League, and the T20 league announced recently by Cricket South Africa (CSA).

The tightly-packed southern-hemisphere winter cricket schedule creates a battle among the four leagues; UAE T20 league, BBL, BPL, and CSA to cast the world's best players in their squads. Later, the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2023) will kick-start anytime in February, close or colliding with the schedules of the mentioned tournaments.

Notably, six-team UAE T20 League is likely to have 34 matches alongside four playoffs, and a final. Apart from the UAE T20 league scheduled for 6th January to 12th February, the BBL is expected to take place in a window between December and January. Whereas, the next BPL is scheduled for January-February 2023.

On the one hand, the UAE T20 League might suffer in terms of auctioning the world's best T20 players, but it might be a massive opportunity for the local UAE talent to get highlighted. It must be noted that three of the IPL franchises, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, and Mumbai Indians are understood to be buying teams in the league.
