When will first edition of IPL Women start?

According to the latest IPL News, the women's edition of the Indian Premier League is reportedly to begin in March 2023, and if not, September 2023 is under consideration as well. A few months ago, the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the women's edition of the T20 league after seeing women's Big Bash League and the women's Hundred getting enormous success.

The board has picked two possible windows to host the inaugural edition of the IPL Women. Women cricketers from all over the globe have shown their interest in participating in the event. They say it may be the perfect platform for ladies all across the globe to showcase their cricket talent and learn from it.

The BCCI held meetings with stakeholders during the men's IPL playoffs. After getting feedback from the former cricketers and the experts, the board has allocated 2023 as the possible window to kick-start the IPL Women in a full-swing manner.

This year, the board held the Women's T20 challenge, which took place after a gap of 1.5 years. Seeing the people's interest rising in women's cricket and more young participants aiming to join, the BCCI is planning bigger things for IPL Women.

It has also been learnt that the England and Wales Cricket Board and Cricket Australia will join hands with BCCI for the women's upcoming T20 competition. They are expected to urge the International Cricket Council to create the window for the league in march 2023, and if not, then in September 2023.

Notably, the inaugural edition of IPL Women is likely to see six teams including Rajasthan Royals, and Kolkata Knight Riders. Chennai Super Kings, who recently opened the girls' academy, have also shown interest in buying the franchise.
