Who will be England's new Test captain after Joe Root?

After Joe Root has stepped down from England Cricket Team's Test captaincy, there have been multiple speculations about picking the new one, however, the team's vice-captain, Ben Stokes is among everyone's favourites. It is assumed the all-rounder will take over Root's charge as his successor.

Root step up from leadership following England Cricket Team's worst nightmares in red-ball cricket. Although he has led the side in most tests by any England captain, the team has managed to win only a single encounter in the last 17. Out of 64 matches played as the skipper, Root has ended 27 on the winning note, losing 26.

Announcing his retirement as the skipper, he stated it is the right time to do so. Notably, England lately have faced a series defeat versus the West Indies when the Ashes Test series already had been an embarrassing barrier in Root's way. After the notable downfall, there had only been bashes for the ex-skipper to step down from his post.

Apart from Stokes, Jos Buttler, Rory Burns, and Stuart Broad are the next in the lane for favourite contenders to take charge of England's vacant Test captaincy role.
