The last league stage match of the Pakistan Super League's seventh edition (PSL 2022), took place between the qualifiers Peshawar Zalmi and Lahore Qalandars. Wahab Riaz's men put a closure to the ceremony with a thrilling super-over win.
Zalmi won the toss and elected to bat first on Gadaffi's pitch. The batsmen did not have much to portray as they could post 158 on the scoreboard sparing three men. The target although looked easy to chase but Shaheen Shah's Qalandars fell short of balls on exact 158. The 1-run space dragged the two teams to a super over.
Qalandars sent Fakhar Zaman and Harry Brook on the crease, whereas, Wahab himself delivered the super over. The pacer sustained 5 runs; Fakhar added 2 of 3 balls whereas, Brook contributed with 3 off 3 to total a super-over target of 6 runs for Zalmi to win the closure game.
The Yellow force's Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Haris came but, Malik alone finished up the things for his team with 8 runs, with Haris not getting a strike. The twp consecutive fours to Shaheen let the Zalmi men shout to celebrate the last match of the PSL 2022.
As of now, the Qualifier round will take place on Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars. Eliminator 1 will be played between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi.It must be noted the winner of Qualifier will directly get a ticket to the final, whereas, the loser of this round will see the winner of Eliminator 1 in a new round; Eliminator 2. The one winning Eliminator 2, will compete the winner of Qualifier in the HBL PSL 7 final on 27th February.
