IPL Mega Auction likely to be postponed

With the fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) revolving around the corner, there has been no official announcement for the mega auction. However, it is learned that it will be a two-day affair, taking place on 12th and 13th February, alongside officially introducing the two new IPL franchises, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad.

The latest reports claim that the IPL 2022 mega auction can be pushed ahead due to the Ahmedabad franchise matter. The franchise's ownership has created some massive issues for the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL governing council. The CVC Capital, an American company pipped Adani Group to buy the franchise for INR 5625 Crores. Later, it was reported that the company has invested in two big betting companies.

The board is yet to decide the fate of the Ahmedabad franchise as the Supreme Court and High Court judges, giving clean chit to the CVC company, threw the wait into the board's lap.

According to recent reports, the board and the attorneys of the Ahmedabad franchise are looking for a suitable agreement between the two sides signing the lawful wording agreement. It is confirmed that CVC will be the owners of the team but the legal figures are yet to finalize the terms and conditions and the right statements for the agreement.

The BCCI might announce the IPL 2022 mega auction dates once the CVC issue fully gets resolved.
