Usman Khawaja marks Test return with a hundred

It is rarely seen that a star is starred straight after the return to the field after a long gap of a year or two. Usman Khawaja, who was optimistic of adding a century when put into Travis Head shoe ahead of the fourth match of the Ashes 2021-22 series, did not only commit but execute the plan. Now, social media is loaded with praises for the batter's remarkable comeback.

Head, who was isolated for ten days on testing COVID-19 positive, could not head for the Sydney Test which opened a gateway for Khawaja to return to the Tests after more than two years. Before featuring in the recent England vs Australia Sydney Test, he donned Australia's jersey back in 2019 versus England in Leeds during the ICC World Test Championship.

He raised the bat at 102 coming from 202 balls as he slammed Jack Leach for three to deep backward square whilst Pat Cummins was alongside him at 15.

Australia did not have a great start to the day. With the new batter induced, Usman, England went through critical times. Steve Smith did wonders with 67 off 141 and contributed to Australia's 416/8D. The only soft corner for them was Stuart Broad's 5-fer. Unluckily, they have been striving to clutch that one win this series but are left with no chances to lift the trophy with one match to spare after the ongoing match.

At the time of writing, England trail by 403 runs at Stumps being at 13/0 in 5 overs.
