Due to the new COVID variant, Cricket Australia (CA) has to change the venue of the fifth and final Test of the Ashes. There will be a change of venue for the fifth Test, which was originally scheduled to take place at the Perth Stadium. In due course, Cricket Australia (CA) will announce the final Test venue.
Cricket Australia, in their statement, said that "border controls, quarantine requirements and the complexities of staging a five-Test series in a tight schedule" were reasons that prompted them to change the venue.
The Ashes will begin on 8 December at The Gabba in Brisbane. The second Test will be played at Adelaide Oval on 16 December, followed by the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Sydney Cricket Ground will host the first Test of the new year between the two sides on 5 January.
