PSL 7 local player category renewal shocks everyone

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has announced its local player category renewal for the PSL 7 that has turned out to be shocking for the fans. Many veterans including the likes of Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, and more have been demoted to inferior categories. 

Afridi, who plays for Multan Sultans has been demoted from Platinum to Diamond Category. Similarly, Malik, Hafeez, and Amir have been moved down to the Diamond Category.

The second-highest run-getter of the PSL, Kamran Akmal has also been dropped to the Gold Category from Diamond.

Despite demotion, there have been several promotions on behalf of individuals' performances. Multan Sultans' skipper, Mohammad Rizwan, who lifted the trophy last season, has been moved up from Silver to the Platinum Category. Also, Haris Rauf (previously Diamond), and Asif Ali (previously Gold) have jumped to the Platinum categories of their respective franchises. 

The young lad Haider Ali of Peshawar Zalmi has been placed in Diamond Category (previously Gold). Sohaib Maqsood of Multan Sultans (previously silver) has been promoted to the Diamond Category either.

It must be noted that the extravaganza is set to kick-start from 27th January. The opener will be contested among the title defenders Sultans and Karachi Kings after the ground-rocking opening ceremony at the National Stadium, Karachi. The final showdown will be played on 27th February.
