Virat Kohli may lose ODI captaincy after T20 World Cup

Virat Kohli, India's all-format captain, announced that the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is going to be his last T20I assignment as a captain.

Days later, he revealed that the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), as the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), is his last too that incited the social media and his lookouts all across the globe. Kohli, after the T20 WC will be coiled up, will be entirely free from the T20 captainship duties.

Discussing IPL, despite eight years of commanding and being in playoffs, finals numerous times, Kohli failed to clutch the trophy once. Also, leading India over the years, he is yet to win an ICC trophy.

The ongoing T20 WC campaign of team India has made things even worst for Kohli as a captain following India's early exit from the tournament. Notably, the fans anticipated Kohli will grasp the maiden titles in both as a captain, IPL 2021 and T20 World Cup 2021.

Following the consequences and years of wait seeking India's failure at the big stages of ICC events, the reports declare that the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to sack him from ODI duties as well.

Rohit Sharma, who got the leadership of the Mumbai Indians alongside Kohli in the same year, has made his team the most successful franchise of IPL. He has won five titles and has never failed to make it to the playoffs.

However, IPL 2021 popped out as a huge setback to the blue army, it does not change the fact that Sharma is the probable candidate to take over Kohli's charges in both formats. 

The BCCI will name a T20I captain for team India after the World Cup will we curled up. However, the decision regarding the ODI format is yet to be officialized.
